One of the best-selling as well as one of the most iconic bourbon brands in the world, Jim Beam is still introducing new additions to their range. Signet was honoured to create an embellishment to premiumise and distinguish their Single Barrel release. Our unique Marque label, with its flexibility and high-level embossing, was the perfect solution to achieve the differentiation they required. Furthermore, we supplied these labels on rolls for automatic application to enable maximum efficiency.
A traditionally-aged, hand distilled Columbian rum that has won taste awards all over the world, La Hechicera makes a bold flavour statement heavily influenced by the character of the wooden casks it’s aged in. Boldness was therefore a big consideration in the creation of an embellishment for the bottle, which is delicately printed with a backdrop depicting the rich flora and fauna of the bodega’s surroundings. Signet developed a stunning, oversized faux wax seal in brilliant blue, using a custom die that also evokes the natural world. The seal was curved to match the face of the bottle and combines perfectly with the label to create a premium look.
Sandeman approached Signet for help with the branding on their limited edition aged tawny port bottles. The company wanted to create a distinctive look for each of the 20, 30 and 40-year aged varieties, while maintaining a cohesive overall look. Signet worked with Sandeman to design a stunning coin featuring the same brand marque used by Sandeman for over a century. This same design was produced in both brass and antique copper variations; the brass was used alone for the 20-year, the antique copper for the 30-year, and the brass in conjunction with a faux-wax seal to bring added gravitas to the 40-year aged bottle. All the embellishments were produced to an exact specification enabling them to fit inside a location area embossed into the bottle.
A Scottish family-run business that’s been satisfying the most elite of whiskey connoisseurs for 120 years. Signet, presented with a brief to develop a subtle yet refined label, with luxury presence for the Gordon MacPhail Private Collection range, we worked collaboratively with the design agency Contagious. Our Marque product was chosen without debate, offering exactly what the brief required, a stunning tactile metal label with the ability of changing the details of the strength, year distilled, and distillery name, as every single cask is unique.
The Wild Geese Irish Honey Liqueur is the first and only super premium honey liqueur produced in Ireland, offering an alternative for traditional whiskey drinkers, and a mild introduction to the spirit for new consumers. Seeking a standout look for their one of a kind product, Wild Geese approached Signet to create a large, faux wax seal for the front of the bottle. A custom die was created featuring the brand’s signature honeybee marque and slogan in relief, which was further highlighted with black print. The reverse of the seal was curved to fit the face of the bottle and the whole piece was designed to sit perfectly inside a shaped location area.
A renowned London purveyor of fine foods and beverages the East India Company has a global heritage and the company brought all of this eclectic experience to bear on the creation of its very own London Dry Gin. We were delighted to be invited to collaborate on the creation of three luxury bottle embellishments to enrich the ethereal look of the frosted glass bottle. We produced a die cast cartouche, Marque flexible aluminium neck wrap and bottle stopper, all featuring the company’s logo and strapline. The cartouche features a compound curve to the reverse for a precise fit, while the two-part, embossed aluminium neck wrap uses a special adhesive to prevent wrinkling. Finally, enamel was added to the relief on the cartouche to bring a touch of colour to the overall look.
Established in 2015, Dublin’s Teeling Distillery is the first new whiskey distillery to open in the city for 125 years – but the family behind the business has a long whiskey-making tradition. To emphasise the company’s heritage, Teeling opted for vintage style branding based on the hand-painted signage of yesteryear, and approached Signet for help to create a dual purpose neck wrap for two of it’s limited edition bottlings. We came up with a beautiful antique bronze self-adhesive Marque label with gold foiled accents and a shaped, perforated tab that adheres across the edge of the bottle stopper, creating a tamper evident security seal.
Seeking a smart, functional solution for a stunning limited-edition boxed whiskey in their 24-year-old ‘Revival’ series, Teeling once again turned to the team at Signet for help to create something befitting of their deluxe product. Since the bottle already featured a metal stopper with a distinctive grooved edge, we knew we could build on this in the design. We created a highly effective and innovative tamper seal by looping a waxed cotton cord around this groove, and then securing in place with an o-ring and a printed neck wrap made from our Marque flexible aluminium label range. The ensemble was finished off with a die-cast silver charm featuring the Teeling logo, which is used as a pull to break the seal with the cord. Simple yet stunning!
With the Renegade Rum Company, the clue is in the name – this is a progressive brand that likes to do things differently! Made on the Caribbean island of Grenada from pure sugar cane rather than the traditional molasses, the rum displays unique flavour characteristics that needed to be reflected in the packaging. Opting for a very plain, contemporary bottle with frosted details, Renegade wanted a statement hangtag that would double as the product label, and Signet complied by producing an embossed metal tag. This was fastened to the bottle neck using steel tension wire rather than a chain or cord, adding a further 3D element to the overall look.
In 1842, at a brewery in Plzeň, brewer Josef Groll introduced the world to the first golden ‘pilsner’ lager, and changed beer forever. His invention soon became the most popular style of beer on the planet. Today, Pilsner Urquell is still brewed in exactly the same way.
To celebrate the beer’s 170th anniversary, brewer SAB Miller’s design agency Lewis Moberley approached Signet to develop a premium tamper evident seal and personalised gift wrap for a 170th anniversary Limited Edition bottling of Pilsner Urquell.
Signet developed a four colour PE label in a faux ‘seal’ style complete with gold foiling and embossing, and most importantly, a tamper evident micro-perforation break seal and strip label for the bottle. We then applied selective resin doming using our Levere process to enhance the colours of the ‘seal’, to give it a 3D profile and create a highly tactile, liquid-look finish. This was then all wrapped in a fine crème tissue paper with a subtle gold printed design for a truly beautiful 170th anniversary presentation.
Lot 40 is a small-batch Canadian rye whisky renowned for its high quality and earthy, classic rye spice notes. This rare cask strength version, aged for 12 years, was released as part of the Northern Border Collection and the company wanted to create a memorable look and feel for the bottle, which is also printed with the ‘story’ of how the product is made. Working very closely with the client, Signet undertook an extensive sampling process to achieve exactly what they wanted – a flexible copper label, applied asymmetrically across the bottle. We sourced an entirely new supplier for this product, which enabled us to produce the label in real copper, embossed with the brand name and some brief details as well as having space for the application of a limited edition sticker.
Returning to the old roots of their Tennessee brand, Jack Daniels chose a classic embossed glass bottle with a simple paper label as a vintage style vessel to reflect the quality of their barrel aged, rested rye whisky. All that was needed was an extra little detail – and Signet came up with the goods by producing a cowboy-style bolero necktie for the bottle, fastened with a small, die cast charm emblazoned with the distillery’s famous designated credentials.
As a leading supplier of real wood flooring in the UK, Havwoods wanted a way to label their display products and customer samples that would convey the company’s commitment to quality and reputation for excellence. While many companies opt for a self-adhesive label, Signet worked with Havwoods to develop a signature die-cast coin, featuring the company logo and inset into the wood. The result is a unique and very premium look that is also extremely hardwearing in the showroom.
Croatian winery Ernest Tolj adopted a ‘less is more’ approach to developing a distinctive visual identity for their premium range of wines. The sleek, clean lines of the black glass bottle are emphasised by the lack of a front label, with the brand instead opting for a combination of an intricate neck wrap inspired by the winery’s ancient window grilles, and a premium hangtag in heavy stock, printed and foil embossed for a beautifully tactile and refined yet rustic look. The tag was suspended from the bottle neck using loops of waxed cord and the whole look was finished off to perfection with a Marque aluminium label, embossed with the brand logo and applied to the top of the cap. The label on the reverse of the bottle was equipped with a dry tab enabling easy removal before the bottle is brought to the table. The bottle was is wrapped in tissue paper made from tea paper to increase the gift element and protect the bottle. Signet’s work was instrumental in the brand’s achievement of a Red Dot Design Award for this packaging.
Blending the rugged charm of Speyside with the urban sophistication of modern Scotland, Caorunn’s artisan gin expertly infuses five locally foraged gin botanicals which are represented in their branding with a stylized, five pointed star logo. Previously screen printed on their bottles, Caorunn wanted to make this logo really stand out and they approached Signet for help. Our Coronam product was actually developed in response to this brief; we experimented with sandwiching and heat fusing a number of substrates together to create a three dimensional piece with the tactile appeal of die cast metal or plastic, but with all the lightweight, flexible benefits of a sticker. Robust and vibrant, the finished piece was perfectly colour matched to Caorunn’s signature red and copes effortlessly with the complex curve on their contemporary bottle’s shoulder.
Produced by England’s foremost gin distillery, G&J Distillers, Berkeley Square Gin stands proudly alongside the world’s most prestigious spirits. Smooth and refined, it’s often referred to as the single malt of gins – and the grand doorways of its native Mayfair are the inspiration for its iconic door knocker emblem. For a relaunch of the gin’s packaging, Signet was proud to help Berkeley Square develop a series of embellishments that would reflect the prestige and refinement of the gin. We created a stunning embossed metal neck collar to further enhance the decanter-style bottle, and produced a beautiful die-cast badge in the shape of the brand’s lion door knocker logo. This was manufactured in two pieces before being riveted together, and fits perfectly into the custom recess on the bottle, with the ring being free to move just like the real thing. Finally, we designed and produced a simple yet stunning Marque Aluminium Label to adorn the front of the bottle, featuring a mix of printing and embossing techniques for a truly deluxe appearance.
The Macallan’s Easter Elchies Cask Selection is an annual, limited edition release which pays tribute to Easter Elchies House, an ancient manor which sits in the heart of The Macallan Estate. Signet was tasked with recreating an old Macallan tradition in which each bottle of whisky would be wrapped in a red or green grosgrain ribbon, sealed with a wax stamp. We printed a bespoke, self-adhesive ribbon using gold foil to denote the Easter Elchies variant, and used real wax to produce custom seals for hand application to the ribbons. These embellishments were applied to both the bottles and the boxes for this deluxe whisky offering.
In a limited edition Father’s Day collaboration with department store Selfridge’s whisky brand Haig Club developed an innovative metallic foil gift bag containing a 70cl bottle of whisky and adorned with a detachable metal keepsake tag, which could be personalized in store. Signet was tasked with the creation of the tags, which were laser etched with Haig Club branding on one side and ready to be engraved with a message of the customer’s choice on the other. The tags were attached to the eyelet on the bags with a ball chain also supplied by Signet.
A truly special product, Sandeman’s Old Tawny is the result of 30 years’ careful ageing in wooden casks, with gradual exposure to air which concentrates the flavours and matures the ruby colours to amber, creating this rare and delicious port. Having chosen a simple bottle and label to evoke the years of work that go into making each bottle, Sandeman wanted a final flourish that would underscore the provenance of this special edition. Signet created a beautiful faux wax seal with a ragged edge giving the appearance of real wax and a handmade finish in a product with the flexibility to adhere to the bottle’s natural curve and the robustness required to perform in a retail environment.
